The god’s we make

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. I grew up reading the Bible knowing the existence of God based on how it is recorded in the Bible. I believed in a God who was self existing from time immortal. This God whom I know was not created, but I believe is the creator of everything. No one made Him a God, but He is that supreme power that He is.

The perception of this supernatural being called God which I have picturized within me, seems to be so different from what many have in this country. This ‘God’, I now see, seems that He can be easily created. The things I learnt growing up are different from what it is now. I realized now that becoming god is easy in the land where I live in.

Easy steps to become God:

  1. Become a master blaster cricketer:
In a nation obsessed by the game of cricket, all you need to do is to become a very good batsman. Score loads of runs even if your team loses the match. All you have to do is to play cricket all your life. Money and fame will be at your door step. You will be crowned ‘The God of Cricket’.

Requirement: Have a strong, fit body.

  1. Start acting:
Entering the film industry would be the best idea if you ever thought of becoming a God. If you become a superstar, you become a god. People will build places of worship for you. Most of the actors and actress have these things built for them.

Requirement: Should be born in a wealthy family. Fair/dark skin,                                 fat/muscular body not needed.

  1. Enter politics:
You become popular and powerful when you become a politician. Place of worships are built for politicians and they are worshiped.

Requirement: Should be good in convincing masses. Should be an                              exception in knowing all the crooked ways. If you’re                              good at cheating, then this is the right choice.

  1. Dress less and Meditate more:
Yes, if you dress less, wearing minimal clothes and sit under a tree motionless for some days, you are in for a surprise when you open your eyes. People would have built a place of worship around you and would be performing spiritual rituals to you. This too, like the above is a very enticing way to become god.

The common result for all the above ways is that fame, money and power are guaranteed which come along with a ‘god’ status. So, isn't it easy?

Analyzing this issue:

I pondered on this for many days trying to understand this whole concept of who god is? Why does a man believe that another commoner, the same human as he is, is a superhuman being? The answer is simple. The search for god, is what makes him do all these things.

The quest for peace, joy, love and happiness ends with God. When man realizes this, he starts searching for God. This search makes him go to extends where he ends up doing the same old things as before if, he does not end up on the right path which is, as recorded in the Holy scriptures’, as Jesus said ‘’I am the way, the truth, and the life:’’

Save life - Written for Help a child of India

With nearly 20 million homeless children, out of which 10 million are girls, India’s future stands at the brink of a lost path. In spite of several measures and strict laws, safety and security of women continue to be the concern across the country. The episodes of Nirbhayas and Abhayas exposes how unprotected are girl children, particularly those who dream of pursuing education and employment in a city not known to them. Attacks and abuses are unabated. One incident follows another with spine-chilling details. It is a stab through the heart to hear of every instance when a woman has been traumatised.

Some alarming facts:

• 12 out of 100 girls are forced into child labor
• 18 out of 100 girls are married off before they turn 15.
• 1 out of 4 girl children go through abuse (Physical/ emotional/ Sexual)
   before the age of 4.

Many children growing up on the peripherals of the society become victims of various kinds of abuses - sexual, physical and emotional. Unlike few fortunate children who enjoy a decent life, many are deprived of safety, love, affection and supervision of adults. Many children walk around with empty stomachs. All the bad elements in the society misuse such innocent children and they are forced into child labor, abuse, drug abuses and also into anti social acts.

Help a Child of India after intensive research in a quest to address these issues, have identified 10 Urban Agglomerates where we will work for the protection and wellbeing of girl children. They are

Amritsar  |  Ghaziabad  |  Guwahati  |  Vishakhapatnam  |  Surat
Patna  |  Pune  |  Ranchi  |  Coimbatore  |  Ernakulum

There is a great mission that is ahead of us “Caring for the Girl Child”. Our focus is to help empower underprivileged women and girls in India through personal safety and physical self-defence training. We need your support and contribution for this venture.

No girl – No mother – No life.  So,

Join us and Help a Girl child live in dignity.

Touch one child’s life and inspire a million - Help A Child in India

When I had a cup of coffee it was 4 in the morning. No sun rays had peed out from the clouds yet. The roads were calm and the night had not faded away. But there was this young mother of a 2 year old girl child trying to make herself and the baby comfortable admits the pile of stones that were stocked in front of a construction site. The building next to our home happened to be that place. That evening I walked up to the place where the construction was going on and enquired her whereabouts. Those workers had come from different places of India as daily wages. The next day in the afternoon she and some workers came to my house and asked for water. As I gave them a bottle to drink, she smiled and told that her name was Salim. She seemed to be in her early 20's.

Many like Salim are burdened of parenting a child at a very young age. These children suffer from malnutrition. They never get the opportunity to go to school as their parents ( In most cases single mothers) leave their home towns and travel distant places for a living. They don’t find a permanent resting place of their own, instead build beautiful luxury homes for others all through their life.

The worst affected are these toddlers. They are born on the streets and live life like a vagabond with a high risk percentage of becoming into a notorious criminal or fall prey to poverty and hunger. These little victims of bad destiny, for no fault of theirs except for being born into a poor undesired, marginalised society, suffer without proper shelter, food, clothing, education and a decent upbringing. For a crime they are not part off, these children are exposed to pollution, all kinds of diseases, sexual harassment (Which is common in our country now a days), torture (In case of child labour which is also a major concern in this country), unclean drinking water and many other threats. In these, some of which like sexual harassment and child labour, continue for generations where a select community of people are underlined and branded that they are born to undergo these kinds of inhumane brutalities.

Are we all not born with the same blood as those innocent infants are? Is it not our responsibility to bring a change in the lives of our fellow brothers and sisters?

Help a child in need and enjoy the smile on its face. There are many not even able to find a daily wages job. Their life ends in their small unapproachable village where only poverty laughs loud in those lands. Touch one child’s life and inspire a million. You can do so by contributing just Rs.500/- per month.

Petrathan Pillaiya ??? (World AIDS day)

December 1, World AIDS day, as we remember today, many are travelling the unknown path with this killer disease called AIDS. A sudden fear of death gripped the hearts of mankind when this deadly disease was first detected in Haiti USA in 1981. Since then, over a 2 million deaths have been reported due to this disease and many more unaccounted deaths too.

Our land is also one of the most effected places due to this killer disease. HIV has spread among the general population in India because the epidemic has followed the 'type 4' pattern. This is where new infections occur first among the most vulnerable populations (such as injecting drug users and female sex workers), then spread to 'bridge' populations (clients of sex workers and sexual partners of drug users) and then finally enter the general population. Most of the people becoming infected are in the sexually active and economically productive 15 to 44 age group. This means that most people living with HIV are in the prime of their working lives. Many are supporting families.

Statistics say that there are more than 2500 children in Chennai who are affected with AIDS. There are much more in fact even double the amount of children who are actually affected and are unaccounted for and do not fall under any category which means they are not eligible for any benefits provided by the government or any other NGO’s. These children do not even get the basic attention which other HIV effected children get.

The biggest concern is that our country has one of the lowest treatment coverage rates; with only 7 out of a hundred people infected with the disease get access to life-saving antiretroviral drugs. India has the highest number of people living with HIV/AIDS and 70% of HIV infections in Asia. But only 7% of people infected with the virus have access to treatment. The only bit of good news is that HIV prevalence among young men and women in southern India appears to have dropped in recent years.

However our government has hopes to diagnose and treat hundreds of very young HIV-positive children under the National Paediatric HIV/AIDS Initiative. It will also free paediatric dosages of anti-retroviral medicines to children living with this disease. Finally our government has launched a specific programme to treat children living with HIV/AIDS that will for the first time in the country allow children under the age of 18 months to be diagnosed. According to an official estimates, 202,000 Indian children are currently infected with HIV and about 56,700 HIV-infected children are born every year.

What are we going to do to save this set of people from destruction? We are all the children of this earth and it is our responsibility to save others and many AIDS effected children. There are many schemes launched by our government and other NGO’s to protect these people. We could also lend a helping hand along with our fellow strong men towards this noble cause. You can adopt a child, or help a family, or take care of an elderly person.

“ Petrathan Pillaiya” is a campaign which was launched this year which grabbed my attention towards it. May be the name of the campaign or the way in which they launched it because kamal Hassan donated Rs. 750000 which will be used as premium to be paid through which 1000 HIV affected children will come under a pension scheme. But nothing of that matters if you and I start fighting against this killer and save the lost and the redeem them back to the light. Petrathan Pillaiya? Even other wise adopt a child as yours and lend out a helping hand for them.

Mama I’m Leaving You

SOME OF THE MEMORABLE MOMENTS DURING OUR COLLEGE DAYS

FIRST DAY OF COLLEGE
LAST DAY OF COLLEGE
It seemed that I just joined my master’s degree a fort night ago, but all of a sudden it’s all over now. I am afraid that I may not get to see those best days of my life. We had our farewell a couple of weeks ago and as I was busy with my projects I could not write about it. These 2 years of my stay in mcc was an awesome experience which taught me the essence of life. Life took its most wonderful turn and destiny had to say “this is your gift, my son ‘looking at my friends whom I meet there. I was granted with the best of everything, with no want I lead a carefree life. Now that my college days are coming to an end, I feel that life took me in and now has driven me out. Much more than words that can express and emotions that can be felt. Mcc was my mother, and so I say’ Mama I’m Leaving You’. Times gone by seem to be like a dream, and now the reality of life seems to be eating me up. I like to talk about my life and friends, about the whole concept called MCC.

Itch {Krishna): The tallest and the most wanted guy (mostly among the girls) in my class. He was the first person whom I made friends with. We have been together at all times but hardly spoke to each other in class. It was kind of a un usual thing, but we preferred it that way. I stayed with him for a nearly a year having a typical mcc party every night at his roof top house. Now off course things have changed a lot coz we had to become serious about our lives.

Dinesh: Never understood him for nearly a year. But now I know what real friendship is which I learnt from him. A very nice character and a good person to get along with. A good judge of character and never hesitates to teach others if some one approaches him. ill be missing u a lot dude. I wish you a promising future coz I know that you work hard to achieve what you desire in life.

Fenn: The ultimate friend. It’s not easy to understand his life coz its all confusions, I guess even he does not know that. I like to pull his legs always. He is allways ever willing to help you at all times (except if no girl wants him at that time) .A very prayerful person who seeks God at all times.

I want to tell about all my class mates but I am a bit lazy for that. Deeps ( Deepa ) is one person whom ill be missing a lot. Missed her a lot during the last few days and during the farewell as well. She is my best friend I made among the girls. Well there is Rachell, the Journalist but a little stupid at times. A very sweet person. She always wanted to become a journalist. I admire her language skills a lot. Ruth, is one person whom I became close all of a sudden. We had no reasons to become such close friends, but again destiny played its part and now I thank mcc which gave me the opportunity to meet such a lovely person like her. Soumya, her Mallu accent attracted me. Nice friend, very charming person. Juby. Levin, Korean, Peep, Kushi, Sara, Tanya, Snhea, Meena, Janice, Sai, Andrea, all are too good a people for me to loose. But thanks to the new media which keeps all of us connected. Sundar, a very down to earth person, like to crack jokes and associate himself with cinema. A movie freak in short. He will surely become a successful director. Sharanya is one person ill never and I never can for get. I loved her so much and I still do. I've tried to talk to you and make you understand, but all seemed to be in vain. Its not the words I want to hear from you nor it's not that I want you not to say, but if you only knew, how much I loved you, you would never say no to me.
I know life has much more to say, this is not the end, but just a beginning of a new era. Its time to step into the world of reality, I have to hunt for a job and earn a decent living. Have lots to achieve in life. I know that ill succeed soon.

Un noticed tears

After all the hick up’s and laziness I rushed to college thinking I would be late for class today. However I reached there on time just to find out that no classes were conducted today as all the lecturers had gone to attend a programme. Annoyed a bit I returned home but got a call on the way asking me to attend a discussion headed by a young dynamic lady from Bangalore. Driven by curiosity I went there but much to my dismay I found just two people sitting around a small table and chatting with each other. One was the lady from Bangalore Miss. Mano Das, chairman of JNU union ( Jawaharlal Nehru University). She is also the member of the CPI-ML (Communist party of India – Marxist Leninist) party.

She is a very simple person and after all the formal introduction we sat down to discuss about some of the burning issues happening in our country.

Why was the police not questioned even after so many complaints given by the public of Nathari village about their missing children . She said that there was no enquiry into the case. If at all an inquiry was held the concerned officer would be suspended for just a few days or transfered elsewhere. Where has our right to freedom gone? And in Nathari, where the case was taken up, after nearly 2 years, not even a single FIR had been filled in the police records where more than 50 children went missing. The police have recovered only just about 20bodies so far. I am afraid that big guns may be involved in this. The serial killings of children in Noida revealed a "butcher-like precision" in the chopping of 20 bodies, of which 11 have been identified as that of girls .Businessman Mohinder Singh Pandher, who along with his servant Surendra, had allegedly sexually abused the children before murdering them. What a cruel act this is. These people should be stoned to death in front of the public.

Well there were many such topics that came up during the discussion including the “goody, prestigious, religious” image that overshadow the politics that play a very important roll in my college. The sexual harassment by a lecturer from the viscom department had been on for the past 2 years which went UN noticed, like speaking to deaf ears by the college authorities.

At the end it was a fascinating and a exciting experience for me as this was the first of its kind that I had been too. Hopefully I will participate in many more such events and keep my self informed about the happenings in and around my place that I can do my fullest I can for my society I live in.
